EMI Community of Practice

The College of Tourism’s EMI Community of Practice (CoP) aims to facilitate long term professional development pathways that lead to better student, lecturer and institutional outcomes. We bring together a specialised and collaborative network of students, educators, practitioners, administrators, managers and experts who share knowledge, experiences and best 21st century pedagogical practices related to using English as a medium for learning and teaching that can be beneficial across the Taiwanese university context.

CoP Goals:

  • To enhance learning and teaching experiences across the university EMI sector.
  • To share expertise, resources and experiences related to EMI.
  • To foster long term professional development by increasing access to discussions, forums, webinars, workshops, and conferences that are geared to improving EMI learning and teaching skills in line with the latest trends and research.
  • To enhance mentorship and coaching opportunities to bridge pedagogical knowledge gaps, provide personalised guidance and facilitate professional growth.
  • To develop a comprehensive resource library that includes lesson plans, teaching and training materials, research articles and case studies related to EMI.
  • To support research and innovation in the field of EMI.
  • To serve as a hub for expertise, support and innovation benefitting learners, educators and institutions working in the field of EMI.
  • To promote collaborations with universities and institutions locally, nationally and globally that can benefit the College of Tourism’s CoP and the EMI field as a whole.
  • CoP members share a strong commitment to the community’s values, which include collaboration, inclusivity, open communication, and a dedication to the improvement of EMI learning and teaching practices.
