Long Term Professional Development

What is Long Term Professional Development?

At CHU and ETI, we support trainers and teachers through a sustained and purposeful process of continuous professional learning. Our goal is to enhance skills and expertise and ensure better outcomes at the institutional, lecturer, teacher, and student levels over the long term. Our approach is guided by holistic principles to create a transformative and lasting impact on educators:

  • We help our partners set up communities of practice, including conferences, workshops, and webinars, that connect participants with the latest research and innovations in language training and teaching.
  • We support the development of reflective practices that allow educators to refine their methods, assess their effectiveness, and make meaningful adjustments based on their unique contexts.
  • We view teacher training as one of the first steps on the path toward internationally recognised accreditation as a teacher trainer, and we collaborate with organisations such as Trinity College London to make this possible.
  • We help our partners stay at the forefront of cutting-edge educational technology, integrating language learning apps, online platforms, and digital tools into a range of teaching environments.
  • We offer developmental observation programmes that provide valuable insights from experienced mentors, including constructive feedback and guidance for improving teaching, training, and learning outcomes.
  • We support our partners in enhancing their assessment practices, ensuring alignment with modern trends and strategies so that students receive timely, meaningful feedback suited to 21st-century learning.
  • We empower our partners with the leadership skills needed to establish effective quality assurance, curriculum development, and research programmes that promote strong team management.
  • At CHU and ETI, we also prioritise well-being and balance by fostering inclusive learning environments, global perspectives, and practical strategies for stress management and self-care—ensuring our partners stay motivated, engaged, and effective throughout their professional journey.
