CHU-accredited trainers, in collaboration with ETI, delivered a series of three CERT PT-aligned training programmes for 62 elementary school teachers, with each cohort made up of around 20 participants. The programmes focused on core skill development, differentiation, and differentiated assessment essential elements for improving teaching quality and student outcomes. Participants explored how to build learners’ foundational academic skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression, while designing inclusive and flexible lessons that addressed varied learning needs. They also developed assessment strategies that recognised student progress in more personalised and meaningful ways. By embedding these principles into everyday practice, teachers could better prepare young learners for the academic challenges of junior high and the language demands of future EMI contexts. These targeted training programmes helped ensure that the foundations for bilingual, content-rich learning were laid early and effectively. Ready to boost student outcomes? It is helpful for CHU and ETI trainers to teach elementary school teachers about core skill development, differentiation, and assessment because these foundational concepts directly impact both early learning and long-term academic success. By understanding what elementary school children are capable of in areas such as critical thinking, collaboration, and self-expression, trainers can help educators create more effective and inclusive learning environments. This knowledge equips teachers with the tools to design lessons and assessments that meet diverse learning needs, ensuring that every student progresses at their own pace. Moreover, embedding these principles early in a child's education sets the stage for their future academic journey, particularly in high school and subsequent university settings. Trainers who are well-versed in these approaches help bridge the gap between elementary and higher education, making the transition to more complex content and language demands in EMI contexts smoother and more successful for students.
Bilingualism is key to the success of the elementary school programme, laying a strong foundation for both local and international academic achievement. By fostering bilingualism early on, students not only gain the ability to communicate in multiple languages but also develop cognitive skills that enhance their problem-solving, creativity, and adaptability. For trainers, understanding the importance of bilingualism enables them to support teachers in creating learning environments that nurture students' language skills in a meaningful way. As the programme emphasizes core skills such as critical thinking and self-expression, bilingualism becomes a powerful tool for enhancing these abilities, allowing students to approach academic challenges with greater flexibility and confidence. Additionally, by embedding bilingual education into early learning, trainers ensure that students are better prepared for the academic demands of high school and university, particularly in EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) contexts, where strong language skills are essential for success. This focus on bilingualism not only benefits students in their educational journey but also equips them with the skills needed to thrive in a globalized world.
